From love-inspired design to graphics and fonts, the Valentines Day marketing ideas your business puts into action in the weeks ahead could help boost revenues – that is – it can help boost revenues if you do what it takes to get the attention of your target audiences, woo them and win their business.

Marketers must switch gears and get Valentines Day marketing campaigns moving just as the busy holiday season winds to a close, and there’s only a few weeks to go. Why work so hard on such a short campaign?

Love is serious business; after all, more than 50 percent of women say they would end a relationship if they didn’t receive a Valentine’s Day gift (statista.com).  For the 62 percent of consumers who will be celebrating Valentine’s Day:

  • Spending will probably approach $20 billion overall in 2015
  • S. consumers are projected to spend upwards of $130 each
  • 180 million Valentine’s Day cards will be exchanged
  • 196 million roses will be sold; more than one in ten women will even send themselves flowers

When it comes to the type of presents that will be given most often, consumers are planning to give Valentine’s Day gifts as follows:

  • 52% cards
  • 48% candy
  • 35% dine out
  • 34% flowers
  • 17% jewelry
  • 14% clothing
  • 13% gift cards
  • 11% other items

While some consumers will opt for tried and true Valentine’s Day gifts and date options, others will be looking for something new to try. For instance, 42 percent of those who will be dining out will choose a favorite restaurant; however, one in ten will be looking for a new restaurant to try.  Whether your business has Valentine’s Day favorites or you are looking to get your business on the map with consumers this Valentine’s Day, a strong marketing campaign can make all the difference.

5 Valentines Day Marketing Resources to Inspire Small Business Campaigns

1.  Valentines’ Day Marketing Ideas

A quick google search for Valentine’s Day marketing ideas will serve up a list; to save a little time, here are some that I have written over the past few years:

2. Valentine’s Day Graphics

It can be difficult to find graphics which are easy, safe and legal to download and use on marketing campaigns for Valentine’s Day or any other holiday.  Two sites which have free photos, vectors and illustrations that I use on a regular basis you might like to try include pixabay.com and freepik.com. Be sure that you read the terms of service, so that you link back appropriately to the sites.

When it comes to sites with affordably-priced graphics, I have used fotolia.com for many years. I appreciate the fact – in most cases – I can download the graphics that I need for use in online publications for just a couple dollars each.  Even when I need a larger graphic or one that is appropriate for use in print design, I can usually find a reasonably priced option, even if I need an exclusive license (such as when I need a photo for the cover of one of my books or calendars).

When all else fails, there’s Pinterest! If you haven’t visited Pinterest and searched for Valentine’s Day printables (labels, templates, cards and other items) then there is no time like the present to do so.

4. Valentine’s Day Fonts

One of my favorite places to go for fonts (again, easy to use, safe and free!) is dafonts.com. They have a great selection of holiday fonts, including Valentine’s Day fonts. Some are even straight up graphics so that you can use them to create your own Valentine’s Day graphics in Photoshop and other graphic design programs. free valentines day fonts and graphics
